Dr. Hefuna, MD.

Ahmed Hefuna, MD is a clinical psychiatrist with dual board certification in both child & adolescent psychiatry and general psychiatry. He provides medical management and individual therapy to children and adults.

After graduating from medical school at Cairo University in his native Egypt, Dr. Hefuna did his residency in psychiatry at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He then completed a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Hefuna went on to work at Albert Einstein Medical Center and then Adventist Behavioral Health/Georgetown University. He has been in private practice since 2014.

While he has extensive professional experience with many psychiatric illnesses, Dr. Hefuna’s areas of expertise include developmental disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, depression, and PTSD. As a certified transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) physician, he also provides this non-invasive treatment for depression.

Dr. Hefuna emphasizes comprehensive approach, closely examining medical, psychological, and lifestyle factors. In his work with children and adolescents, Dr. Hefuna works closely with parents to determine the best treatment plan, whether that involves therapy or medical intervention. He values collaboration with other medical providers, therapists, educators, caregivers, and family members to provide comprehensive services.

Regarding language skills, Dr. Hefuna is fully bilingual in English and Arabic and appreciates the resulting opportunity to provide care to a larger group of patients.

In his free time, Dr. Hefuna enjoys hiking with his wife and children and visiting the small towns around Shenandoah Valley. He is an avid cyclist and has competed in many cycling races and running.

If you carry this insurance, our practice is usually an in-network provider and we will submit your claims to your insurance on your behalf. Of course we make no guarantee of payment or coverage and all claims are evaluated individually.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service and is accepted in the form of personal check, money order or by a credit card issued by: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. We will provide you with a statement with all of the necessary coding so that you may submit this expense to your insurance company/benefit plan for reimbursement.

Cancellations & No-Show Policy
We request that you provide our office with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice from the previous business day (M-F) when cancelling or rescheduling appointments so that we may offer the time to another patient in need. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours of the scheduled day/time and no-shows will be subject to the following fees:
$50 for appointments scheduled with Physician, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
$50 for appointments scheduled with any Psychotherapist.

In order to ensure proper completion of forms, letters, and/or paperwork, you may be asked to schedule an appointment to meet with your provider in order to fulfill these types of requests. A fee of $40.00 will be charged on all completed forms, payable upon pick-up.
